As the year progresses, we can’t help but be excited for the release of the 2020 lineup this fall. Car manufacturers are releasing more and more about what their newest vehicles will offer and how they will stand out against the competition. Impressive speed and power upgrades are the theme for 2020, with the 2020 Ford Mustang leading the way with enhanced performance abilities across its lineup. While the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro features engine and model upgrades, the 2020 Ford Mustang features an impressive performance package that will take the base level Mustang to a whole new level. And the new addition of the Shelby GT500 will leave the competition in the dust.

2020 Chevrolet Camaro

Following along with the theme of power upgrades, the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro will feature the addition of a new V-8 model called the Camaro LT1 V-8 and an optional 10-speed automatic transmission on models with the 3.6L V-6 engine. The new LT1 model will start at $34,995 and will be a cross between the current LT (1LT trim) and SS models. It will come equipped with the 455 horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8 engine that was previously only offered with the SS and will be available in coupe or convertible.

The Camaro LT models equipped with the 3.6L V-6 engine will experience upgrades as well with a new available 10-speed automatic transmission that will replace the current 8-speed.

The rest of the 2020 Camaro lineup will feature subtle design changes with a body colored bumper insert, repositioning of the bowtie emblem, and a new body color: Rally Green.

2020 Ford Mustang

Ford didn’t just follow the theme of power, they left the competition in the dust with the upgrades featured for the 2020 Ford Mustang. With the available 2.3L High Performance package for the base 2020 Mustang and the development of the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, fast is taken to a whole new level at each trim level.

The High Performance package gives the base 2020 Mustang a power upgrade that we won’t turn down. The turbocharged 2.3-liter engine included with this package produces 330 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft of torque. Also included in this package is a fully active quad-tip exhaust and the choice between the six-speed Getrag manual or 10-speed automatic transmission. Features will include 19-inch aluminum wheels, a blacked-out grille, side badges, hood stripes, magnetic gray side mirrors, a raised blade rear spoiler, a serialized dash plaque, an engine-spun aluminum instrument panel, and five driver-selectable drive modes.

For an even more thrilling ride, the Shelby GT500 will feature the most powerful design yet with a barely legal supercharged engine and high-performance technology upgrades. With the supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine and TREMEC 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the Shelby GT500 shifts in less than 100 milliseconds and puts out more than 700 horsepower. Other performance improvements include an aerodynamic design, a new electronic power steering unit, lighter front and rear coil springs, a MagneRide suspension, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S and Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, 16-5-inch two-piece rotors Brembo brakes and Ford Performance driver control technologies.

In addition to a boost in power, the 2020 Mustang will also be available in four new colors: Twister Orange, Grabber Lime, Red Hot, and Iconic Silver
